Playful lines, expressive forms, and a touch of whimsy—this is the world of Min Pin, the creative practice of illustrator Penny Min Ferguson. From her studio in the Dandenong Ranges, Penny brings colour and character to everything she creates. Her work spans illustration, textiles, ceramics, and bold, expressive drawings, each infused with her signature sense of joy and imagination.
This season, Kuwaii is thrilled to step into the creative world of Min Pin with our limited Meridian print collaboration. The partnership marries Kuwaii’s refined silhouettes with Penny’s playful, storytelling approach to design, resulting in pieces that are both visually striking and layered with meaning.
At first glance, the Meridian print recalls topographic lines on a map, suggesting depth, movement, and an abstract sense of landscape. But look closer, and the print reveals birds in flight, symbols of harmony, freedom, and motion, quietly hidden within the contours.
The design draws inspiration from the Currawongs’ springtime return to the Dandenong Ranges, Penny’s home. Their birdsong evokes nostalgia, echoing memories of past springs, while the layered shapes and lines reference traditional weaving patterns—from checks to gingham—creating a print that appears textured and tactile from afar.
Every piece in the Part 05 collection carries this thoughtful narrative, blending nature, memory, and craft into wearable art. The collaboration is not just a print, it’s a story of place, of seasonal rhythms, and of an artist’s playful yet considered eye for design.
The Meridian print is exclusive to this drop and available in a limited run. Each silhouette is designed to showcase the print beautifully, letting the layers, birds, and textures come to life.
