Muller Van Severen

March 22nd, 2014

Today we admire a furniture project by Fien Muller (photographer) and Hannes van Severen artist). Life blossoms when you collaborate. While both artists are inspired by the tension between the known and the unknown they create furniture out of sheer necessity and function. Something we, as busy people love!

International Women’s Day, celebrating Clare McCardell

March 8th, 2014
Frida Kahlo painting

I find Clare McCardell to be inspiring because she revolutionised women’s way of dressing and hence their lifestyle and the freedom back in the 1930s. To me, she made fashion ‘for the people’ and for the first time took women’s dressing into a realm of freedom and casualness. In a time when the fashion industry was a man’s world, she was a strong an visionary force. Her design stand the test of time – they are beautiful and wearable now as they were then: stylish and timeless. To me she encapsulates the strength of women and also the importance that clothing can have on a women’s way of life.

International Women’s Day, celebrating Jane Godall

March 8th, 2014

Humanitarian and messenger of peace, I admire her passion and determination to conserve and protect animal’s welfare for over 45 years. She shows, that at age 79 and looking 60, the secret to eternal youth is to have a kind and open heart.

International Women’s Day, celebrating Lee Lin Chin

March 8th, 2014

I find Lee Lin Chin inspiring because of her FANTASTIC outrageous clothing and her sharp wit when delivering the SBS world news – she also has a great dry sense of humour!

I admire her ability to spread her dedication and passion… being an advocate for World Of Difference, Just One World an The Social Studio is pretty impressive.

She inspires me to wear my most colourful clothing!

March 8th, 2014
Frida Kahlo painting

Frida Kahlo – I admire Frida for her confidence. Her power and her obvious feministic strength. I love that she wasn’t afraid of colour. I love that she loved romance.
